The benefits of being married to a Taliban

From today's Times' article "Burka brigade: wives take up arms for the Taleban" we have this classic:
As with nearly all Afghan women, Mahmuda's movement is severely restricted by her husband. But she says that being the wife of an insurgent has its benefits.
"They are fighters and when they come home they are tired and don't beat us".

Well there you go feministas! So put on your bodybag and party like it 1999.

Western feminism was only ever an economic issue.
Sure, Rosie liked being a riveter but it was the riveters pay packet that was the main attraction.
Do you hear from Western feminists now about violence toward women, honour killings, genital mutilations?
Nope!

Just because you have not heard Western feminists speak out against violence toward women, does not mean that they aren't. Are there no issues/people/voices you wish the media would cover, but doesn't? Who do you blame for that lack of coverage, the media or the people trying to get their stories out?

Thank you Mick, yes women out there are fighting it.
Robbo seems to think that women shouldn't get equal pay so I doubt he is unbiased.

Trouble is, in Europe, you can go to prison for criticizing the shariah, so everything has to be worded very carefully. This is a long way from chaining oneself to No. 10, or burning bras in the high street.

Maybe they'll be to tired to make little baby Taliban as well - the world may yet become a better place after all.
