Boycotting Jews and the Jewish State: Nazis then and now

See how different the current BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) campaign against the Jewish State is from the Nazi boycott.

More codswallop.

Israel has been illegally occupying the West Bank for 49 years. The Jews in Germany were citizens of the same state, not part of another state in illegal occupation.

Strange - you get very het up when others make comparisons about the Nazis, yet you look to make inapporpirate comparisons at every opportunity. One would think that comparisons with the Holocaust are being used strategically to prevent scrutiny of the occupation or of the Likud regime.

Leah Rabin considered Netnanyahu as much the murderer of her husband as the man who fired the bullet. That man is now Prime Minister of a disgraceful racist regime

This leaves out the Transfer Agreement.

To anonymous at 9.05 pm, why do you say it is codswallop? Can you disprove one thing that Edgar posted here?

To anonymous at 9.11 pm: You are mixing a whole lot of unfounded accusations into one incomprehensible hodge podge.

Israel has not been illegally occupying anything. The fact that "the world" says so does not make it so according to international law.

In what respect are the comparisons with Nazis inappropriate? The BDS are acting exactly as the Nazis did towards the Jews. Edgar demonstrated this vividly right here. This has nothing to do with "occupation" or the Likud. Why would you even bring the Likud into the equation? Do you have any idea how Israel's parliamentary system even works? (that was a rhetorical question, it is quite obvious you don't have the slightest clue).

Leah Rabin was distraught with grief. What she said or thought about Netanyahu is irrelevant. The murderer was caught, he was incited by the Shin Bet to pull the trigger, and is now sitting out his days in jail for life.

To John Glenn, I presume that the "transfer agreement" to which you refer was an arrangement that was attempted by the Jewish councils during the Nazi regime in a desperate attempt to save as many Jews as they could.

What has this to do with anything that Edgar has posted here?

"Israel has not been illegally occupying anything"

Trouble is you're so full of denial& lies it's impossible for anyone to negotiate with you.

You just repeat your lie. Israel has the only valid legal claim. You are the one in denial

"Israel has been illegally occupying the West Bank for 49 years."

Really?

Interesting. Apart from anything else and I suspect you will say the Bible is rubbish, so I won't mention that. Check archaeological records. Everything about Judaea and Samaria, and its history is there.

BTW when Jordan illegally occupied Judaea and Samaria, they called it the 'WEST BANK OF JORDAN"

Some legalities for you.

In November 1917, British Foreign Minister Arthur Balfour endorsed the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. This is known as the Balfour Declaration.

In July 1922, the League of Nations unanimously passed the Mandate for Palestine, which was based on the San Remo Resolution, the first international legal document which recognised the establishment of a Jewish homeland in Palestine.

After WWII, the League of Nations ceased to exist, and the United Nations was established. Chapter XII of the Charter of the UN deals with the “International Trusteeship System,” which applies to the Mandate system.

Once known unofficially as the Jewish People’s clause, Article 80 of this chapter preserved intact all the rights granted to Jews under the Mandate for Palestine. The UN Charter is an international treaty, and as such binding in international law.

In 1947, Great Britain declared her intention to turn the Mandate for Palestine back to the UN because Arab reactions against Israel’s rights in Palestine were severely problematic.

November 29, 1947, the General Assembly passed Resolution 181, which called for the partition of Palestine into a state for the Jews and a state for the Arabs. (Note: NOTHING was said about a “Palestinian state or Palestinian Arabs.) : General Assembly resolutions carry no weight in international law. Its resolutions are only recommendations. The General Assembly recommended that Palestine be divided.

The Jews accepted the resolution, the Arabs rejected it. Thus, Resolution 181 was null and void. It carried no weight whatsoever. This means that the Mandate was still in effect – nothing in international law had superseded it.

Following the war of 1948-9 Israel and Jordan signed an armistice agreement. The line between Israel and Jordan was an armistice line. Jordan demanded that it be stated in the armistice agreement that this was a temporary line and that the final border had to be determined by negotiations.

This armistice line, which was often referred to as the Green Line, was temporary. And yet the Palestinian Arabs and their supporters refer to it as the 1967 “border” and insist that Israel must withdraw to it. There is no basis for this demand in international law.

When Israel took all of Judaea and Samaria and eastern Jerusalem in the Six Day War of 1967, she was only moving into unclaimed Mandate land. Israel cannot be an occupier in land that according to international law belonged to her in the first place.

Please check your history books.

1299 - 1923: Ottoman Empire, (Muslims) rules over central Hungary Balkan Peninsula, Anatolia, Mesopotamia, Syria, Palestine, western Arabia, Egypt, the Caucasus, western Iran, Transylvania, Walachia, Moldavia, the Crimea Tripoli, Tunis & Algiers.

November 1914: Ottoman Empire declares military jihad (holy war) against France, Russia & Britain.

11 December 1917: Britain led by General Sir Edmund Allenby beats the Turks & OCCUPIES territory that later becomes Iraq, Palestine, Trans-Jordan, Syria & Lebanon.

1923: Britain divides Palestine into 2 areas, based upon centres of existing Jewish & Muslim population; 27.8% of Palestine west of Jordan River allocated to create Jewish Palestinian National Homeland.
72.2% of Palestine east of Jordan River allocated to form Arab Palestinian Homeland – named Transjordan. Emir Abdullah (of Saudi Arabian origin) appointed by British to rule over Transjordan (72.2% of Palestine).

May 14, 1948: Palestinian Jews declare their own State of Israel on the 27.8% of Palestine they’d been allocated by the British & become "Israelis." The next day, SEVEN neighbouring Arab armies, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Yemen, invade Israel. They encourage the approx. 700,000 Palestinian Arabs still living within the boundaries of the 'newly declared' Israel (instead of having moved to Transjordan), to leave, in order to facilitate the slaughter of the Jews). Many leave - & are today’s ‘Palestinian refugees.
Jordan OCCUPIES Judea & Samaria (part of the 27.8% of Palestine allocated to the Jews), and renames it the 'West Bank"

June 5 - 10, 1967, '6-day War'; Israel takes back Judea and Samaria (stolen and OCCUPIED by Jordan).

1964: Yasir Arafat, leader of the PLO, ‘re-invents’ ‘the Palestinians' as a nation of Moslems with 2 main goals: to destroy the Jewish people living in the Land of Israel, & secondly, to line Arafat's own pockets.

Remind us, WHO are the occupiers?

Why commewnt if you don't know any facts? Thne West Bank was occupied and annexed by Jordan between 1949 and 1967, so an Israeli occupation of 49 years is historically impossible. The occupation since 1967 is considered completely legal under UN resolutions 242 and 338, which stipulate that for the occupation to end (in part) the Palestinians have to agree to peace, stop attacking Israelis, and agree to secure borders for Israel. They have agreed to none of this, so the occupation r emains legal until they do. This has to do with international law, not your weird opinion. Israeli Jews are not part of 'another state', since Israel wqas established through a UN ruling in 1948. And, as I explained, they are not in occupation. The Palestinians did not accept a state of their own in 1947 and therefore have no ownership of the West Bank or Gaza. Before 1948, from 1922, the West Bank was part of the League of Nations Palestine Mandate. Before 1922, it had belonged to the Turkish Ottoman empire. Only the Jews are in legal possession of their state. Israel is not governed by a 'regime' but by a democratically elected government with the Likud Party holding a majority in coalition with other parties and faced with a legal opposition, just like any democracy. Israel cannot be a 'disgraceful racist' regime because it is no more racist than the United States, the UK, France or other democracies. There are no racist laws, all Israelis, Arabs and Jews alike, have exactly the same rights, rights to vote or stand for parliament. There black Israelis, Israelis of Middle Eastern origin, Jews of Russian origin, and many more. There may be individual discrimination, but less than in the US, and far less than the religious discrimination of Iran and all other Muslim countries. Please stay away from arguments you are not intellectually or morally fit to engage in. Or remain a deeply uninformed bigot. It is exactly people like you who supported Hitler and allowed the Holocaust to happen.

BDS was never about "changing" anything. It was and is all about besmirch and vilify Israel as supposedly the bad guy. It is why it has adopted the vile unfair terminology. Portraying racist Arab Islamic genocidal warriors (using its own population as human shields) as the "victim" and pluralistic Democratic multi colour Israel as negative.
