Why you should not give a penny to Comic Relief (or Sports Relief which comes under its umbrella)

No matter how many times I warn people about this it seems they do not get it, so let me spell it out this time in very simple terms:
So, unless you are an antisemite or an international socialist, I am sure you can find many more deserving charities to give your hard-earned cash to than Comic Relief (just make sure it also is not any of these). It is always best to give direct to a specific charity whose work you know you want to help.

***I have just discovered that, despite all of this, Comic Relief has just given their biggest grant ever to War on Want (£590,719) for a project that ends in August 2020. You can see the latest list of their grants here.

Update: and here is another gem courtesy of a charity supported by Comic Relief

It's time a few schools were forcibly made aware of this and prevented from promoting it.

Before you spout hatred have a look at the list that YOU just shared of all the grant locations and I did not see one linked to Palestine/anti Israel projects. Comic relief isn't perfect, no charity is and no one is forced to donate to secular charities if you are uncomfortable that all the money may not be spent on Jewish causes. But we have Jewish charities in this case. You will also see on this list of grantees, World Jewish Relief and Tzedek that doesn't seem too anti semetic to me. I am not trying to take comic relief's side, but they are just trying to eradicate poverty and injustice. Their focus is not on Israel, being anti Israel or otherwise.

  3. To anonymous: Before you spout your nonsense why didn't you actually try READING what I wrote. I did not claim that Comic Relief directly funds Palestine/anti - Israel projects. In fact, I even made it clear that they say they do not. The problem is that a massive chunk of their money goes to the international charities WHO DO FUND anti-Israel propaganda and projects. Also a lot of the projects in Africa are nothing to do with poverty eradication and everything to do with the politics of supporting local socialist activists. Oh and by the way I neither support nor understand why Comic Relief gave a grant to World Jewish Relief in Africa. Nor would I have any problem if every penny of Comic Relief was spent on a charity solely dedicated to DIRECTLY helping Africans in need.

  4. To 'Anonymous': You typify the anti Israelist, not content to grapple with the antisemitic facts of this case but rather to shoot the messenger. Concentrate on the troubling message that Edgar is conveying.

I have researched Comic Relief and associated charities plenty and can confirm that Edgar is correct. Such charities are inadvertently or consciously funding terrorism against Israelis.

Ironically I am hugely zionistic and pro Israel. I just find it frustrating when a charity is trying their best and they get criticized all over.

"when a charity is trying their best and they get criticized all over." No. Their best is criminally mediocre to the point their incompetence causes violence and murder elsewhere. Hope the Israelis don't come to your "charity" office and ask you how "doing your best" was acceptable. If you administer funds in such a charity and do your job this shit you either are lying about your agenda to donors or retarded.

  8. Would that be the same Israel whose founders were self declared social democrats? Would that be the same Israel in which all of the leaders came from the left and center left from the time of the nation's birth until the 1970s?Would it be the same Israel that today has a thriving left? but which under Netanyahu has seen Holocaust survivors living in poverty. Not all Israelis are right wing.. Israels social democratic origins are denied by the right and the left across much of the world. That is sad .

I hate being picky, but if you are going to call people ANTISEMITIC, I would suggest you learn how to spell the word, so you don't look quite so ignorant.
